I’m gearing up for the 1.2 release of Vimeo for Wordpress now. There’s a few features I’d like to add before I let it into the wild but this latest release adds comments to the videos ( so you can tell what the embed code actually does), It fixes the issue of the colour picker’s box being at the bottom of the page (though the CSS isn’t quite perfect yet) aswell as a few other things.
As usual I’ll put up a few examples of how it all goes plus some screenshots.
So Here’s the first one:
Using the new commenting system it’s easy to see what your videos are and it’s even easier to select them and delete the code
Here’s the second:
When you add a video in the manual entry box there’s no way of the plugin knowing what the video is so it just gives some default code
Only a quick update that adds the group URL fix (see last post) and adds a nifty little box on the admin page to help with the hex values, expect a follow up release which will add a popup from which you can choose colours from (this is currently being delayed by CSS issues)
When you type in your hex code into the text box in the admin page and click off the text box it will update the colour next to the text box. As I said just now, this is a temporary measure until I can sort out the CSS
I finally got round to uploading my Vimeo for Wordpress Plugin at 1am this morning and already 66 people have downloaded it. I know this doesn’t seem huge but I’m amazed that in the space of 12 hours 66 people decided to give it a try. Mega happy points there, I’m sure the hype will die down though.
I’ve also just posted up my tutorial on how to make a Facebook App with as much ease as possible over at www.webmonkey.com if anyone wants to go check it out.
I’ve just finished coding my first plugin for Wordpress. I’m calling it Vimeo for Wordpress (original huh?).
The plugin is simple to set up, it uses your Vimeo user name to grab your videos and your friends videos but there’s still an option to enter the URL of the video (the plugin takes the http://www.vimeo.com/ part out of it).
Anyways you should go try it out!
I’ve decided that I’m going to create my own wordpress plugin.
I use Vimeo to host all of my videos as it’s a far better service than youtube and there’s not that many wankers on there to spam my videos. I’ve been looking at their API and I’m starting development on a plugin that will let you access all of your (or your contacts) videos from within the post editor, using a simple menu you will be able to select the video you want to add from a list (or supply the URL) and it will embed the video straight into the post, no copy and pasting. I’m hoping it will work the same way the link tab works on the editor at the moment.
This is my 100th post in my blog, not bad as most of it’s been gibberish Unfortunately I haven’t got much to show for today as I’ve just been pissing about with Leanna and went to her uncles birthday with her dad and stepmum
Well I finally got round to making a theme for my blog, I’ve decided to make a minimalist site which has a consistent theme through out. I decided to include the drop down menu from the front page into everything so everyone can access everything easily.
I find it weird how we define what a day counts as. I work in a pub and because we close at 12 I’m hardly ever home before 1 and because of this I can never grasp why I always seem to post blogs then looking back at them they are on the wrong day. I know that wordpress is just trying to organise my posts but I wish that it would (or if I found out how to make it) start each day at 7am instead of 12am. This way I could blog to my hearts content and still have the posts appear when I want them to.
It’s currently quarter to 5 in the morning and I’ve just finished my essay for Nicks lesson (it’s crap, but it will do as it’s a draft) and I’m just about to start my other pictures for my Double Project. Thank god for Pro Plus!
I need to sort loads of things out, I need to sort out the main page of my site, as I have just realised the h1 tag is blocking the 2 links below it, I need to sort out the template of this blog, and I have to sort out the template for paedobot’s development blog, I also need to redesign the whole of the ARToolKit project site.
The first one shouldn’t be too hard to do as it just involves sorting something kool to put up there, I was thinking of a map of sorts, like either a tube map or a road map, that’ll give me an excuse to break out illustrator and have some fun.
The second is a bit more tricky because I don’t exactly know what this blog is just yet, is it a diary? is it a journal for uni stuff? I feel it’s a combination of both but I don’t know how to reflect that in a design plus I would like to have a bit of fun with CSS.
The PaedoBot dev blog template is half way done anyway I just have to change some font colours and gets some of the backgrounds sorted out.
The ARToolKit project site will be a bit more tricky, at the moment it just consists of a brass photoshopped picture, I think to make it better I might build a few apps and take screenshots, that way I can have some classy pics in the background and then overlay the menu system and content over that.
Which reminds me I still have to encode the fly modeling video I made for the Home Delivery mini-site and put that up there.
All good things need to come to an end, and due to complications trying to keep the same database I have decided to redo the whole blog. This time it’s not in the root directory, which means I can develop an actual site.
Here’s to blogging!
